Why the same car gets three different prices

Local scrap yard
£280
Pays by weight. A 2017 Focus with a blown engine is 1.3 tonnes of steel to them.
Comparison site
£650
Auctions your details to buyers, takes a cut, rings you tomorrow. The buyer still has to make margin after the fee.
Our buyers, the dismantlers
£1,150
They strip it and sell the gearbox, doors, lights and seats through their sellers on Partpro, so the parts value is in your price, not a middleman's.

Cat N, Cat S, or just broken: we buy all of it

Cat N means non-structural damage (bumpers, lights, electrics). Cat S means structural damage that has been assessed. Both can be bought, repaired or dismantled, and both are worth far more than scrap. Cat A and B must be crushed; we will still quote scrap value and collect them.

No category at all? Most salvage cars do not have one. A failed MOT, a dead engine or a prang that was never claimed on is still salvage to us.

2015+ hatchback, engine failure
£800–£1,600
2015+ Cat N, drives
£1,500–£4,000
Cat S, any age
£900–£3,500
Older non-runner with good parts
£300–£800
Typical ranges from recent purchases. Your own figure comes from the reg check.

Been offered a settlement? Check it against us first.

If your insurer has written the car off, you can usually keep it (ask to “retain the salvage”) and the settlement drops by their salvage estimate, often a low one. Get our price before you accept: if we will pay more than they are deducting, you come out ahead by keeping it and selling to us.

Already have a written offer from another buyer? Send it with your quote and we will beat it by £50 or tell you honestly that we cannot.

Worked example
Insurer values the car at £4,200, deducts £700 salvage if you keep it, pays £3,500.
We offer £1,250 for the salvage.
Keep it and sell to us: £3,500 + £1,250 = £4,750. Hand it over: £4,200.

How it works for salvage

STEP 1
Reg + what's wrong
Tell us the damage. The price is calculated from the parts that survive, instantly.
STEP 2
Add photos (optional)
Four phone photos can move the price up. A buyer, not a bot, reviews them within the hour.
STEP 3
Collection, free
Recovery truck, winch if needed, from home, work or the garage it is stuck at.
STEP 4
Same-day payment
Bank transfer, roadside if you want it. Price unchanged if the car matches what you told us.

Salvage questions

Is there finance on it?
We can still buy it. We settle the finance from the price and pay you the balance.
Do I need the V5C?
Helpful but not essential. Photo ID and proof of address work. How it works without one.
Will you really not lower the price at the door?
Not if the car is as described. If there is undisclosed damage the driver will call you before anything changes.
What happens to the parts?
They are tested, listed and sold to other drivers through our buyers' sellers on Partpro, which is why the price includes them.
How fast can you collect?
You pick the day and we fit around it, from home, work or the garage.
Scrap or salvage, which is mine?
The reg check decides. Here is how we work it out.
