What it’s worth

How much is my Chevrolet worth for scrap?

A Chevrolet Matiz / Spark is typically worth £130 to £210 for scrap. A Chevrolet Kalos / Aveo is typically worth £130 to £210 for scrap. A Chevrolet Cruze is typically worth £180 to £280 for scrap. Newer or damaged Chevrolets are often worth more for their parts, from £800 to £4,000+. Your price is based on the car itself, not just its weight, and a Chevrolet that does not run or has failed its MOT is still bought.

Chevrolet stopped selling cars in the UK in 2015, so good used parts are harder to find. That keeps demand up for the parts on cars we collect.

Common problems

Why do Chevrolet owners scrap their cars?

Rust

Older Matiz and Kalos models are prone to rust on the sills and underneath.

Coolant leaks and overheating

The Cruze can develop coolant leaks that lead to overheating if they are not caught early.

Captiva gearbox and diesel faults

The Captiva can suffer automatic gearbox problems and diesel faults that cost more than the car is worth.

Hard-to-find parts

With no new Chevrolets on sale, some repairs take longer and cost more, which pushes owners to scrap.

Your options

Should you scrap your Chevrolet or sell it?

Your ChevroletBest option
Running, with a long MOT and no big faultsSelling it privately or part-exchanging it may get you more

Newer, or damaged in an accident, flood or fireSell it to us for salvage: the parts are worth far more than scrap

Scrap or salvage?

Scrap means the car is too old or worn to be worth repairing, so it is taken apart, the reusable parts are sold and the rest is recycled. Salvage means the car still has valuable parts, or could be repaired, so it is worth more. Your quote tells you which applies to your Chevrolet and shows you the higher figure.

Scrappage schemes

Is there a Chevrolet scrappage scheme?

We are not aware of a Chevrolet scrappage scheme running at the moment. Manufacturers and dealers sometimes run part-exchange offers on new cars, so it is worth asking your local dealer. If there is no offer, or you are not buying new, scrapping your Chevrolet with us usually gets you the most for it.

The rules

What you need to know before you scrap your Chevrolet

Every scrap car has to go to a licensed scrap yard. Our yards are dismantlers, licensed by the Environment Agency or its equivalent, so your Chevrolet is dealt with legally and the parts that can be reused are put to use. By law, scrap cars cannot be paid for in cash, so you are paid by bank transfer the same day.

Have your keys, your logbook (V5C) and photo ID ready when the driver arrives. We tell the DVLA the car has been scrapped, and within 7 days you get a Certificate of Destruction, the official proof it has gone. Any road tax you have paid is refunded automatically.

Chevrolet scrap questions

How much is my Chevrolet worth for scrap?

Most Chevrolets we buy are worth between £130 and £520 for scrap, depending on the model and its condition. Newer or damaged Chevrolets can be worth £800 to £4,000+ for their parts. Enter your reg and postcode for your exact price.

Will you buy a Chevrolet that does not run or has failed its MOT?

Yes. We buy every Chevrolet as it is, whether it runs or not, has failed its MOT or has been off the road with a SORN. Collection is free.

Do you buy Chevrolets with faults like rust?

Yes. Older Matiz and Kalos models are prone to rust on the sills and underneath. We price your Chevrolet on its parts and weight, so a big repair bill does not stop us buying it.

Is there a Chevrolet scrappage scheme?

We are not aware of one running at the moment. Dealers sometimes run part-exchange offers on new cars, so it is worth asking. If you are not buying new, scrapping with us usually gets you the most for your Chevrolet.

Is my Chevrolet worth more for parts than scrap?

Often, yes, if it is newer or has been damaged. Your quote already takes this into account, so you will see the higher figure.

Can I scrap my Chevrolet without the logbook (V5C)?

Yes. Have photo ID and proof of address ready instead, and we will tell the DVLA for you. It does not change your price.

How will I be paid for my Chevrolet?

By bank transfer, the same day it is collected. By law scrap cars cannot be paid for in cash, so be wary of anyone who offers it.

What happens to my Chevrolet after it is collected?

Our yards are dismantlers, so the parts that can be reused are sold and the rest is recycled. We tell the DVLA for you and you get a Certificate of Destruction, the official proof the car has gone, within 7 days.
