What it’s worth

How much is my Range Rover worth for scrap?

A Range Rover Evoque is typically worth £290 to £520 for scrap. A Range Rover Sport is typically worth £290 to £520 for scrap. A Range Rover Velar is typically worth £290 to £520 for scrap. Newer or damaged Range Rovers are often worth more for their parts, from £800 to £4,000+. Your price is based on the car itself, not just its weight, and a Range Rover that does not run or has failed its MOT is still bought.

Range Rovers are heavy and their parts are worth a lot, so a newer or damaged one is usually worth much more sold for its parts than scrapped.

Common problems

Why do Range Rover owners scrap their cars?

Air suspension failure

The air suspension can leak or the compressor can fail, leaving the car sitting low on one corner. Fixing it properly can cost well over a thousand pounds.

Diesel engine failure

Some 2.7 and 3.0 V6 diesels have suffered crankshaft failures, and the 2.0 Ingenium diesel can have timing chain problems. A replacement engine often costs more than an older car is worth.

Electrical faults

Warning lights, faulty sensors and infotainment problems are common on older models and can be hard and costly to trace.

Accident damage

Repair costs on a Range Rover are high, so even moderate accident damage can make an insurer write it off.

Your options

Should you scrap your Range Rover or sell it?

Your Range RoverBest option
Running, with a long MOT and no big faultsSelling it privately or part-exchanging it may get you more
Failed its MOT, or needs a repair that costs more than it is worthScrap it with us: free collection and same-day payment
Newer, or damaged in an accident, flood or fireSell it to us for salvage: the parts are worth far more than scrap
Not running, or off the road with a SORNScrap it with us: we collect it as it is

Scrap or salvage?

Scrap means the car is too old or worn to be worth repairing, so it is taken apart, the reusable parts are sold and the rest is recycled. Salvage means the car still has valuable parts, or could be repaired, so it is worth more. Your quote tells you which applies to your Range Rover and shows you the higher figure.

Scrappage schemes

Is there a Range Rover scrappage scheme?

We are not aware of a Range Rover scrappage scheme running at the moment. Manufacturers and dealers sometimes run part-exchange offers on new cars, so it is worth asking your local dealer. If there is no offer, or you are not buying new, scrapping your Range Rover with us usually gets you the most for it.

The rules

What you need to know before you scrap your Range Rover

Every scrap car has to go to a licensed scrap yard. Our yards are dismantlers, licensed by the Environment Agency or its equivalent, so your Range Rover is dealt with legally and the parts that can be reused are put to use. By law, scrap cars cannot be paid for in cash, so you are paid by bank transfer the same day.

Have your keys, your logbook (V5C) and photo ID ready when the driver arrives. We tell the DVLA the car has been scrapped, and within 7 days you get a Certificate of Destruction, the official proof it has gone. Any road tax you have paid is refunded automatically.

Range Rover scrap questions

How much is my Range Rover worth for scrap?

Most Range Rovers we buy are worth between £290 and £520 for scrap, depending on the model and its condition. Newer or damaged Range Rovers can be worth £800 to £4,000+ for their parts. Enter your reg and postcode for your exact price.

Will you buy a Range Rover that does not run or has failed its MOT?

Yes. We buy every Range Rover as it is, whether it runs or not, has failed its MOT or has been off the road with a SORN. Collection is free.

Do you buy Range Rovers with faults like air suspension failure?

Yes. The air suspension can leak or the compressor can fail, leaving the car sitting low on one corner. We price your Range Rover on its parts and weight, so a big repair bill does not stop us buying it.

Is there a Range Rover scrappage scheme?

We are not aware of one running at the moment. Dealers sometimes run part-exchange offers on new cars, so it is worth asking. If you are not buying new, scrapping with us usually gets you the most for your Range Rover.

Is my Range Rover worth more for parts than scrap?

Often, yes, if it is newer or has been damaged. Your quote already takes this into account, so you will see the higher figure.

Can I scrap my Range Rover without the logbook (V5C)?

Yes. Have photo ID and proof of address ready instead, and we will tell the DVLA for you. It does not change your price.

How will I be paid for my Range Rover?

By bank transfer, the same day it is collected. By law scrap cars cannot be paid for in cash, so be wary of anyone who offers it.

What happens to my Range Rover after it is collected?

Our yards are dismantlers, so the parts that can be reused are sold and the rest is recycled. We tell the DVLA for you and you get a Certificate of Destruction, the official proof the car has gone, within 7 days.
