How much is my Tesla worth for scrap?
A Tesla Model 3 is typically worth £230 to £400 for scrap. A Tesla Model Y is typically worth £290 to £520 for scrap. A Tesla Model S is typically worth £230 to £400 for scrap. Newer or damaged Teslas are often worth more for their parts, from £800 to £4,000+. Your price is based on the car itself, not just its weight, and a Tesla that does not run or has failed its MOT is still bought.
Every Tesla is electric, and the battery pack and motors are worth a lot, so almost every Tesla we buy is valued for its parts. Expect a price well above the scrap figures below.
Tesla scrap and salvage prices by model

| Model 3 | Large car or estate | £230 to £400 |

| Model X | SUV or 4x4 | £290 to £520 |
| Newer or damaged Tesla (salvage) | Any | £800 to £4,000+ |
These are the typical prices we pay for cars of each size. Your exact price depends on the model, its condition and which parts can be reused, so get a quote with your reg and postcode for the real figure.

Why do Tesla owners scrap their cars?
Accident damage
Repairs on a Tesla are expensive and often slow, so even moderate damage can lead to a write-off.
Battery damage
Damage to the battery pack, even from hitting a kerb or debris, can make a Tesla uneconomical to repair.
Flood damage
Water damage to the battery or electronics usually means the car is written off.
Suspension and electronics
Older Model S and Model X cars can suffer air suspension and screen faults that are costly to fix.
Should you scrap your Tesla or sell it?
| Your Tesla | Best option |
|---|---|
| Running, with a long MOT and no big faults | Selling it privately or part-exchanging it may get you more |
| Failed its MOT, or needs a repair that costs more than it is worth | Scrap it with us: free collection and same-day payment |
| Newer, or damaged in an accident, flood or fire | Sell it to us for salvage: the parts are worth far more than scrap |
| Not running, or off the road with a SORN | Scrap it with us: we collect it as it is |
Scrap or salvage?
Scrap means the car is too old or worn to be worth repairing, so it is taken apart, the reusable parts are sold and the rest is recycled. Salvage means the car still has valuable parts, or could be repaired, so it is worth more. Your quote tells you which applies to your Tesla and shows you the higher figure.
Is there a Tesla scrappage scheme?
We are not aware of a Tesla scrappage scheme running at the moment. Manufacturers and dealers sometimes run part-exchange offers on new cars, so it is worth asking your local dealer. If there is no offer, or you are not buying new, scrapping your Tesla with us usually gets you the most for it.

What you need to know before you scrap your Tesla
Every scrap car has to go to a licensed scrap yard. Our yards are dismantlers, licensed by the Environment Agency or its equivalent, so your Tesla is dealt with legally and the parts that can be reused are put to use. By law, scrap cars cannot be paid for in cash, so you are paid by bank transfer the same day.
Have your keys, your logbook (V5C) and photo ID ready when the driver arrives. We tell the DVLA the car has been scrapped, and within 7 days you get a Certificate of Destruction, the official proof it has gone. Any road tax you have paid is refunded automatically.
Tesla scrap questions
How much is my Tesla worth for scrap?
Most Teslas we buy are worth between £230 and £520 for scrap, depending on the model and its condition. Newer or damaged Teslas can be worth £800 to £4,000+ for their parts. Enter your reg and postcode for your exact price.
Will you buy a Tesla that does not run or has failed its MOT?
Yes. We buy every Tesla as it is, whether it runs or not, has failed its MOT or has been off the road with a SORN. Collection is free.
Do you buy Teslas with faults like accident damage?
Yes. Repairs on a Tesla are expensive and often slow, so even moderate damage can lead to a write-off. We price your Tesla on its parts and weight, so a big repair bill does not stop us buying it.
Is there a Tesla scrappage scheme?
We are not aware of one running at the moment. Dealers sometimes run part-exchange offers on new cars, so it is worth asking. If you are not buying new, scrapping with us usually gets you the most for your Tesla.
Is my Tesla worth more for parts than scrap?
Often, yes, if it is newer or has been damaged. Your quote already takes this into account, so you will see the higher figure.
Can I scrap my Tesla without the logbook (V5C)?
Yes. Have photo ID and proof of address ready instead, and we will tell the DVLA for you. It does not change your price.
How will I be paid for my Tesla?
By bank transfer, the same day it is collected. By law scrap cars cannot be paid for in cash, so be wary of anyone who offers it.
What happens to my Tesla after it is collected?
Our yards are dismantlers, so the parts that can be reused are sold and the rest is recycled. We tell the DVLA for you and you get a Certificate of Destruction, the official proof the car has gone, within 7 days.
