What it’s worth

How much is my Mitsubishi worth for scrap?

A Mitsubishi Colt / Mirage is typically worth £130 to £210 for scrap. A Mitsubishi ASX is typically worth £180 to £280 for scrap. A Mitsubishi Outlander is typically worth £290 to £520 for scrap. Newer or damaged Mitsubishis are often worth more for their parts, from £800 to £4,000+. Your price is based on the car itself, not just its weight, and a Mitsubishi that does not run or has failed its MOT is still bought.

The L200 pickup and the Shogun are heavy and in demand for parts, so they score well. An Outlander PHEV hybrid can be worth more again because of its battery.

Common problems

Why do Mitsubishi owners scrap their cars?

Chassis rust

The L200 and older Shoguns can rust badly on the chassis, which is one of the most common reasons they fail their MOT.

Diesel injector and turbo faults

The diesel engines in the L200, Shogun and Outlander can suffer injector and turbo problems with age.

Hybrid battery and charging faults

An Outlander PHEV with a tired battery or a charging fault can be very costly to repair, but the battery still has value to us.

Age and mileage

Many Colts and older Outlanders are simply at the end of the road after high mileage.

Your options

Should you scrap your Mitsubishi or sell it?

Your MitsubishiBest option
Running, with a long MOT and no big faultsSelling it privately or part-exchanging it may get you more
Failed its MOT, or needs a repair that costs more than it is worthScrap it with us: free collection and same-day payment
Newer, or damaged in an accident, flood or fireSell it to us for salvage: the parts are worth far more than scrap
Not running, or off the road with a SORNScrap it with us: we collect it as it is

Scrap or salvage?

Scrap means the car is too old or worn to be worth repairing, so it is taken apart, the reusable parts are sold and the rest is recycled. Salvage means the car still has valuable parts, or could be repaired, so it is worth more. Your quote tells you which applies to your Mitsubishi and shows you the higher figure.

Scrappage schemes

Is there a Mitsubishi scrappage scheme?

We are not aware of a Mitsubishi scrappage scheme running at the moment. Manufacturers and dealers sometimes run part-exchange offers on new cars, so it is worth asking your local dealer. If there is no offer, or you are not buying new, scrapping your Mitsubishi with us usually gets you the most for it.

The rules

What you need to know before you scrap your Mitsubishi

Every scrap car has to go to a licensed scrap yard. Our yards are dismantlers, licensed by the Environment Agency or its equivalent, so your Mitsubishi is dealt with legally and the parts that can be reused are put to use. By law, scrap cars cannot be paid for in cash, so you are paid by bank transfer the same day.

Have your keys, your logbook (V5C) and photo ID ready when the driver arrives. We tell the DVLA the car has been scrapped, and within 7 days you get a Certificate of Destruction, the official proof it has gone. Any road tax you have paid is refunded automatically.

Mitsubishi scrap questions

How much is my Mitsubishi worth for scrap?

Most Mitsubishis we buy are worth between £130 and £520 for scrap, depending on the model and its condition. Newer or damaged Mitsubishis can be worth £800 to £4,000+ for their parts. Enter your reg and postcode for your exact price.

Will you buy a Mitsubishi that does not run or has failed its MOT?

Yes. We buy every Mitsubishi as it is, whether it runs or not, has failed its MOT or has been off the road with a SORN. Collection is free.

Do you buy Mitsubishis with faults like chassis rust?

Yes. The L200 and older Shoguns can rust badly on the chassis, which is one of the most common reasons they fail their MOT. We price your Mitsubishi on its parts and weight, so a big repair bill does not stop us buying it.

Is there a Mitsubishi scrappage scheme?

We are not aware of one running at the moment. Dealers sometimes run part-exchange offers on new cars, so it is worth asking. If you are not buying new, scrapping with us usually gets you the most for your Mitsubishi.

Is my Mitsubishi worth more for parts than scrap?

Often, yes, if it is newer or has been damaged. Your quote already takes this into account, so you will see the higher figure.

Can I scrap my Mitsubishi without the logbook (V5C)?

Yes. Have photo ID and proof of address ready instead, and we will tell the DVLA for you. It does not change your price.

How will I be paid for my Mitsubishi?

By bank transfer, the same day it is collected. By law scrap cars cannot be paid for in cash, so be wary of anyone who offers it.

What happens to my Mitsubishi after it is collected?

Our yards are dismantlers, so the parts that can be reused are sold and the rest is recycled. We tell the DVLA for you and you get a Certificate of Destruction, the official proof the car has gone, within 7 days.
